About JY Candles

Based in Leeds, luxury candle company JY Candles was set up by Jason Yazici. With a goal of driving more sales, and tired of being fobbed off and just feeling like a number when it came to searching for a new website design business, Jason was excited by the idea of working with KAYBE.

The challenge

Prior to joining KAYBE, I was getting barely any sales from my previous website. I was getting a lot of pressure from companies with Google Ads that were trying to charge me hundreds and hundreds of pounds, and nobody knew what they wanted to offer me; it felt like they just wanted to take my money from me then bump a few ads out and then forget about me.

I wanted a brand-new website and for someone to take control of that side of things. I didn’t want to build the website myself or be getting involved, because I’m not tech-savvy like that. I don’t understand where things should be placed, or where buttons should be, and things like that.

Choosing KAYBE for a new website

I was contacted by someone at KAYBE, and was asked questions about my current website. It was a call that happened at just the right time, because I was actively looking to find a new website design team. The timing was perfect!

I was so open to the conversation that I really just allowed them to speak to me and tell me what they could offer as a service, and it just seemed so much better than what I was getting at the time.

I felt like I was wanted by KAYBE, not just like I was just a number whirling round in a massive corporate line that was just getting chewed up and spat out; it felt more personal.

I didn’t feel like I was just another business to add to their portfolio and get revenue; I felt like I was appreciated and that they wanted me onboard, which was nice. It felt right from the start, so I just went with my gut.

The solution

Initially, I was asked my thoughts on colour schemes, ideas for layouts, websites that I aspired to, the type of vibe I was looking for, how I wanted the website to flow, and where I wanted “buy now” buttons. KAYBE would send me demos, asking how I felt about ideas. I was very much involved from start to finish, and before the website went live, I was asked time and time again, “are you sure you’re happy with this layout?”, “Do you like this section?”.

"The final look was amazing. I loved the layout, how it flowed, and the wording. It felt like I was a bigger, more established brand once the website was done. "
People love my new website! It's easy to navigate, from start to finish, and it's very clear. I've had so much positive feedback, and the process has been really good.

Let's talk results

I’ve seen a massive difference in terms of traffic and sales. It looks more expensive, so people are more enticed to click further and go into things. Shopify and Yell sites are OK, but you can tell that they are that class of website. It feels like that person has made it on their own, rather than a company making it for them. When I look at mine now, you can really see the difference. It looks 100% more professional.

It’s so much better having a team onboard, like KAYBE. Even with regards to getting technical support, I have a WhatsApp group and KAYBE’s are always there for me. Even in busy sales times, if there’s a technical glitch, which is normal, they are always there to help.

Working with KAYBE: My experience

I’d say that the team at KAYBE are very patient when it comes to their customers, and very understanding regarding what I want and need. I never feel like any question is too many questions, and I feel like they break it down for me. There’s never been any point where I’ve felt like I ask too much of them. They always do everything they need to do for me, and I always feel like they’ve got my business at heart, and that they always try to do the best for me.

Because I’m wearing so many hats within the business, it’s nice to take one off and hand it to KAYBE. If I was on my own and I was dealing with Yell or any other company where you make a website yourself, I would have to sit down and spend time that I just don’t have spare, when really, it’s just so nice to be able to pass it to the team at KAYBE

I’m happy to admit that I do not have the technical skills [to build and maintain a website]. I’m a candle business; I’m not a website team, so I’m happy to leave that job to KAYBE

Advice to others looking to work with a marketing company

My advice would be 100% to just try it out. If it’s not for you, there are lots of things you can do to walk away from that, but just try it. Just give it a go, because the amount of support you get from working with a marketing team versus being on your own and setting up a website on your own is just worlds apart. As a small business, it makes you feel less alone in your brand; like you have a bit of a team around you that are supporting you as well.

I would say look at reviews on social media, testimonials from clients and people they’ve got on board. I’ve been with KAYBE for years now, and I’d never be with anyone else.
