Here’s Why Web Hosting with Your Website Design Team is a No-Brainer!

Debating using Elementor for your web hosting? We tried it and, spoiler alert, it didn't end well. Here's why! And why we now stick to our lane.

So, you’ve got a WordPress website. Chances are you’ve come across Elementor—it’s like the Swiss Army knife of website builders. In fact, 11% of websites worldwide use it. Impressive, right? But here’s the catch: with great tools comes great… speed issues.

That’s where Elementor’s web hosting service comes in—or at least tries to. We decided to give it a whirl because, as perfectionists designing pixel-perfect websites from scratch, we’re always chasing ways to make things faster. Spoiler: it didn’t end well.

The great web hosting adventure

Picture this: Black Friday. Deals flying everywhere. We jumped on Elementor’s web hosting offer like kids at a sweet shop, ready to test it out. Armed with a plan to dodge bandwidth and webspace issues (hello, external video hosting!), we rolled up our sleeves and got cracking.

Step one? Migrate an existing site using Migrate Guru. Easy, right? Wrong. Thirty seconds into the process, the dreaded error message popped up: “Sites couldn’t sync. Try again later.”

So, we tried again. And again. No security plugins, different times of day, even a little prayer to the tech gods. Nada.

Calling for backup

At this point, we turned to Elementor support. Their suggestion? “Use our manual migration service.” Hmm. Appreciate the offer, but we like knowing what’s going on under the hood, especially when testing for our top-tier client campaigns.

We asked if another plugin might work. Guess what? Same answer: “Use our manual migration service.”

But we’re not quitters. Next, we fired up a fresh Elementor hosting instance and went to our trusty WPvivid plugin. Plot twist: Elementor doesn’t allow it. Why? It’s deprecated. Oh, the betrayal.

Manual mode activated

Determined, we soldiered on, diving into Elementor’s backend to find database and FTP access. A glimmer of hope! We exported our database, prepped it for import, and—boom—firewall blocked our file. That’s when we waved the white flag.

It turns out Elementor web hosting is like an IKEA flatpack with missing screws. Great for straightforward, out-of-the-box setups, but try building anything more complex and it all falls apart.

Moral of the story

After days of banging our heads against the proverbial wall, one thing is clear: for web hosting, you need more than a one-size-fits-all solution. Fancy design is pointless if your web hosting ties your hands.

But here’s the good news: we’ve got you covered. Whether it’s hosting for Elementor or any other platform, we know the ropes, the plugins, and the secret sauce to make your site perform like a dream.

So, save yourself the hassle (and the firewall drama).

Why we stay in our lane

Knowing what we’re doing, we stick to our own web hosting environment, although this means we have to manage the full server side of things ourselves in addition to the websites. Why? Because it gives us full access to everything we need, ensuring we can deliver exactly what our clients require. Whether it’s tackling speed issues with manual improvements or handling the most complex and advanced Elementor builds, our web hosting ensures lightning-fast performance. We’ve got the tools, the know-how, and the freedom to make your website not just good, but exceptional.
