Software as a Service (Saas) is a cloud-located software that allows you to access a service via the internet as opposed to downloading an application to your desktop. This may be a workspace, a CRM system, an image sharer or many others similar services.
This means any device with an internet connection is able to log in and access this same service. This enables teams to share the same space and seamlessly access and retrieve files without having to manually integrate internal software on each device.
Typically provided on either a subscription basis, businesses pay each month in order to use the software and the SaaS company will ensure maintenance, updates and repairs are carried out for the subscription’s duration. Alternatively, this can be a pay-per-use service, whereby you pay for how many GBs used, transactions made or API requests. This allows you to change the price you pay based on how much of the Software as a Service you require.
