A Favicon is the icon that appears alongside a website address when users search for a business’s URL.

Typically a 16px × 16px image of a business’s logo, this helps to serve as part of a brand identity to maintain consistency and be more easily recognised amongst countless other companies.

This is especially valuable when a user has multiple tabs open or bookmarks a page, as it means they don’t have to read the text to notice and associate your favicon with your company. Therefore, increasing the likelihood of them returning to your page from the increased visibility due to your favicon’s business association.
